Job description
The primary function of this position will be to lead a new Intelligent Automation Team in Quantum Motion to work alongside other teams on IC Engineering and Quantum Engineering. The goal of the team is to transform the automation of key parts of both the characterisation and operation of the quantum processor and its constituent parts. No background in quantum physics or semiconductor devices is required.

Our team of 30+ is based in Oxford and London, with a centre of mass in our new Islington lab.
Functions of the Role
Lead the Intelligent Automation Team in Quantum Motion
Research and implement appropriate ML algorithms and tools for the automation of the characterisation and operation of semiconductor quantum devices and processors
Run machine learning tests and experiments, including statistical analysis and fine-tuning using test results
Lead the interaction with the testing team in order to build and maintain a high quality dataset for ML testing along with the development of a rigorous testing procedure to determine the quality of models on fresh data.
Support the wider deployment of ML tools developed by the Intelligent Automation to other teams within the company
Keep abreast of relevant developments in the field
Prepare progress reports and appropriate documentation for the tools developed
Experience - Essentials
Top tier education, minimum 2.1 in Computer Science or closely related discipline; likely to have studied to MSc or PhD level
In depth experience in at least one of the following areas: Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision
Proficiency with Python and basic libraries for machine learning
Strong collaborative approach with good communication and interpersonal skills
An inquisitive nature and logical approach to problem solving. A passion for tackling big challenges and, in particular, for developing quantum computers
Experience - Desirable
Strong industrial/commercial experience as a Machine Learning Engineer
Experience in developing software which interacts with test & measurement hardware
Experience in technical mentoring/supervision experience
