Align is looking for a Senior Manager of Machine Learning or AI team for our Raleigh, NC office. This exciting new role would be part of a culture that is helping to improve lives every day through digital dentistry.

Align Technology, a leading innovator in medical devices, is looking for a Senior Manager of Machine Learning to lead the development of Machine Learning and Image Processing systems. A successful candidate will create and communicate technical concepts of new projects and drive projects during the whole life cycle from research and feasibility to production.

The Senior Manager of Machine Learning will work closely with Product Managers, Researchers, Software Engineers, QA, and IT teams to build, automate and deliver high quality products for our Invisalign product line. This position will report into the Sr. Director of R&D in our North Carolina location. Skills & requirements

Functional management of the Machine Learning research and development teams

Recruiting and leading machine learning scientists, image processing scientists, software and data engineers

Cultivate a positive, collaboration and innovative culture with a team and client focus

Delivery of road-map commitments, managing time, scope and quality

Organize research feasibility studies with definitive deliveries and metrics

Build global partnerships and deliver in a globally distributed organization

Continuously improve research & development processes

Drive and contribute to technical solutions selection and brainstorming

Research current trends and emerging technologies

Able to coordinate with internal customers on long term projects

Lead and communicate effectively both within and outside of your team

Research, development and delivery of projects

Work with limited direction, usually within a complex and evolving environment, to drive delivery of solutions while influencing cultural change

Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Resolve scheduling and other conflicts in order to meet all deadlines


Proven track record of working with employees to develop clear career goals

Significant background working in data science. (i.e. machine learning, business intelligence, statistical science)

Able to assess customer needs and remove impediments for teams to execute to an appropriate resolution.


M.S. Statistical Science or similar degree or equivalent years of experience

10+ years of management experience

8+ years of statistical science or software development

Extensive experience leading and developing teams

Experience leading researchers

Nice to Have/Optional

Experience working in health sciences or medical device field

Experience in Machine Learning algorithms or statistical science


10% domestic and internationally
