Optimus Ride is based in the Boston Seaport District. Our team hails from a diverse set of backgrounds, and cumulatively has decades of experience building self-driving vehicles, electric vehicles, manufacturing robots, surgical robots, autonomous drones, and more. We aim for a highly collaborative, hands-on, and open environment where peers learn from each other while building technologies for real-world environments.
Optimus Ride research scientists work closely with our engineers to rapidly develop, iterate, and deploy ideas. At Optimus Ride, research scientists are not cloistered away on their own, but instead are embedded within our engineering teams to bridge the research and engineering worlds, and collaborate with the larger team to setup large-scale tests and develop new techniques to power self-driving vehicles.
Our team is focused on a rapid path to market in order to maximize the benefits of self-driving technologies for all. To do this, we need our research scientists and engineers to be versatile, have leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic about tackling problems across the full range of our systems. Your peers will cumulatively have decades of experience from places like Google X, SpaceX, iRobot, Rethink Robotics, and Draper Laboratories, and have built self-driving vehicles, electric vehicles, manufacturing robots, surgical robots, autonomous drones, and more. You will be creating new technologies through software development that integrates your areas of expertise to enable self-driving systems to be possible today.
Participate in cutting edge research to advance the state of the art in self-driving vehicles
Create advanced perception and decision making systems to enable vehicles to accurately perceive, predict, and react to the world
Collaborate with software engineers to test and deploy ideas to an active fleet of self-driving vehicles
Skills & requirements
PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Experience in machine learning, computer vision, decision making under uncertainty, motion planning, or autonomous vehicles
Experience in C/C++ and Python
Contributions to the research community, including publications at conferences such as NIPS, CVPR, RSS, ICRA, etc.
Ability to design and execute on a research agenda
Significant experience writing production quality code
Experience with one or more of: GPU programming, state estimation, real-time systems, mapping and localization, deep learning, object detection and tracking, computational geometry, real-time visualization
