Senior Machine Learning Engineer at CloudTrucks
🇺🇸 United States › California › San Francisco (Posted Jan 22 2021)
CloudTrucks is a virtual trucking carrier in the multi-billion dollar trucking space. This traditional industry is highly fragmented with huge opportunities for products, services and automation. We strive to deliver solutions that help truck drivers to operate with much greater efficiency, increase their revenue, and offload business complexities.
Our CEO recently led Scotty Labs, an autonomous trucking startup, to an acquisition by DoorDash. We have a talented staff of alumni from Microsoft, Uber, Opendoor, and Intercom, with a great fit for the problem space we are tackling.
We are looking for diversely exceptional people to join us on our journey as we massively scale into an industry defining business.
Data science and machine learning are core to our goals at Cloudtrucks - helping truck drivers manage their business with maximal efficiency and minimal headache. The team tackles complex problems with smart solutions in market prediction, pricing, risk assessment, and route optimization. As a Senior ML Engineer, you'll develop and improve models that power core product applications, as well as partner cross functionally to enable the organization to make decisions with accurate and meaningful data.
End to end ownership (prototype, implement, monitor and iterate) of online, predictive models across applications including driver decision making, driver performance & risk, macro & micro market movements, and marketing.
Partner cross functionally to deliver critical insights and enable data driven decisions.
As a founding, and experienced member of the data science team, establish and champion data best practices throughout the organization.
Examples of projects depending on experience and interest: Build and apply ML models for pricing, route optimization and (or) efficient search ranking. Own our data pipelines. Implement services to power clear, concise and actionable data insights to our drivers and the broader freight community.
5+ years of industry (4+ with advanced degree) experience in machine learning, data science or closely related role, with 2+ years of experience in computer science or equivalent degree.
Established history of project ownership & success in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or statistics domains.
Self-motivated and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with minimal direction.
Able to ship incrementally and iterate quickly to deliver user focused value.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effective in a collaborative environment. We win together as a team.
Experience with deep learning frameworks & algorithms (TensorFlow, PyTorch, RNN, LSTM, etc.), and large scale data processing (Spark) is a plus but not required.
